Successful Communication Skills

Two and a Half Hour Workshop

Participants will know how to:

Section	Content and Benefits
What's good communication and why it is important to you?	Participants will be able to appreciate the power of both verbal and non verbal communication
Styles of communication	Participants will understand their preferred style of communication and how this impacts on their learning and interpersonal skills
Body Talk	How to use body language to create a more approachable and confident first impression
Speaking with expression	Practise the techniques to speak with greater confidence Exercises to add expression and conviction to the voice
Rapport	We define what rapport means The group will brainstorm when they'd need to get rapport and when it would be useful to break it We use role play to experiment with making and breaking rapport
Asserting yourself!	In this section we explore techniques to help the group to: Express opinions assertively Persuade Make suggestions
Listen effectively	Here we explore through small group exercises what makes a good listener and the barriers to listening Listening techniques to ensure understanding and minimise the possibility of conflict
Personal Development Plans	Participants will complete individual development plans to ensure they continue their learning outside the workshop

The course mixes interactive and facilitator-centred learning, using role play, group discussion and exercises.
